Express links for driving directions; click on the direction you'll be coming from:
SR-522 South from Monroe
Take the exit to Woodinville. (This is also the back way to Redmond, and to highway SR-202)
The exit ramp climbs uphill.
At the light, turn left, south, then go over the overpass, and down the hill.
Click here to continue to railroad bridge.
From I-405 (Renton-Bellevue-Lynnwood)
From I-405, take Exit 23 onto SR-522, eastbound towards Woodinville, Monroe and Wenatchee.
Continue on, using the next section below.
From SR-522 North (Via I-405 or Bothell)
About one mile east of I-405, take the exit to Woodinville.
(This is also the back way to Redmond, and to highway SR-202.)
The exit ramp climbs uphill a bit.
At the end of the exit ramp, turn right and travel down the hill on the 4-lane road. Take it easy on this corner; it's banked the wrong way.
Continue to Railroad Bridge
Within the next block and a half, move into the left lane; you will be turning left just beyond the overhead railroad bridge at the bottom of the hill.
Continue down the hill. Get in the left lane at the first opportunity; you will want to turn left just beyond the overhead railroad bridge ahead.
At the bottom of the hill is a traffic signal, Union 76 gas station, and a car wash on the right.
50 feet beyond the traffic light, you will pass under an overhead I-beam railroad bridge that has "Woodinville" painted on it.
Just as you go under the bridge, get in the left turn lane.
75 feet after passing under the bridge you will come to another traffic light. On your left is a Shell station; diagonally to the right is an Arco station.
Turn left, East, onto N.E. 175th Street.
(If you pass by a Jack In The Box restaurant on your right, you missed the left turn at the previous light.)
The cemetery is just beyond -- adjacent to -- the Shell station on your left. The cemetery frontage has long concrete walls with black metal fencing on top. In the distance, on the right, is an old, 2-story brick school building.
From Fall City, Carnation, Duvall, & Monroe Back Route
Go to the light in Duvall, turn west over the river bridge, and then drive west on the Woodinville-Duvall Road for perhaps 5 miles or so. Continue straight past Avondale, Cottage Lake, the White Stallion, and then down the winding hill.
At the first light down the hill, where there is a metal building that is a heated storage place, turn left, south.
Wind down the hill and go west through downtown Woodinville; there are a number of stoplights.
The 25 MPH speed limit through town is zealously enforced.
The cemetery is at the far end of downtown, kiddie-corner from an old, two-story, brick school.
The front of the cemetery, along N.E. 175 Street, has long concrete walls with black metal fencing on top and shrubbery in front.
At night, it looks like the photo below:
VISIT THE GROUNDS
Please observe a few rules while visiting the cemetery.
Hours
Visitors are welcome to visit from dawn to dusk every day.
Gates
There are two gates into the cemetery:
Main Gate
The main gate is at the "front" of the cemetery, along N.E. 175th Street. It spans the concrete driveway apron that runs from the street across the concrete sidewalk.
The main gate is made of black-painted metal and is flanked by concrete bulkheads on both sides.
The left portion of the gate contains a smaller "pass-through" pedestrian gate; the pedestrian gate is open daily from dawn to dusk.
The large main gates are opened for funerals, and on Memorial Day Weekend, when it is open from Friday morning until dusk on Monday.
Northeast Gate
There is another large gate at the northeast corner of the cemetery.
A cyclone-fence-type of gate, it is used for funerals and occasional access to the grounds by maintenance vehicles. It is kept locked.
MEMORIAL DAY OBSERVANCE
The Woodinville Memorial Mead makes a special effort to observe the Memorial Day holiday.
On that day, the grounds are spruced up and the main gate is left open for the weekend.
Many families decorate the graves of loved ones, making for a very poignant reminder.
We encourage everyone to visit the cemetery and to honor those who served our country in the many wars we've had to fight to preserve our freedom.
This Veterans Administration website has information about benefits for fallen veterans, which may include a free bronze marker for the burial of a fallen service member.
OPEN HOUSE
Click on the pictures with thick
borders to see big enlargement.
In conjunction with our Memorial Day observance, we hold a cemetery "open house" for the public.
The main gates are opened and the cemetery is staffed by at least one board member on Memorial Day. You can buy a plot that day, at the cemetery.
This link will take you to information about buying a plot at any time of the year.
