Please see the cemetery's Rules and Regulations for further details about burials.
Did you know that it's customary to bury a coffin with the person's feet towards the east? That way, they can see the rising sun throughout eternity.
GRAVE MARKERS
Please see the cemetery's Rules and Regulations about grave markers.
Arranging for the acquisition of a grave marker is the responsibility of the plot owner or representative. Installation of the marker or monument must be done by professionals.
Markers for Veterans
A veteran may be eligible for a free bronze grave marker from the Veterans Administration, similar to the marker at right.
This Veterans Administration website has details about eligibility for a bronze marker, as well as other benefits available to fallen veterans.

Choosing a Grave Marker
Material and Durability
It's instructive to spend some time examining existing monuments and markers in a cemetery. Which markers still look good after decades of time? How legible is the text?
Bronze is the most durable marker material.
Stone is a fairly durable material, but the type of stone can make a big difference -- some types of stone are more durable than others. You'll notice that some types of stone tend to literally crumble with time; the text may become nearly unreadable eventually.
Unless made of bronze, home-made markers are not usually very durable.
Concrete, steel, iron, aluminum, glass, and plastic are not durable marker materials.
Style and Appearance
Grave markers are available in a wide variety of materials and styles.
Markers can be made from a wide variety of stone colors and fashioned into an endless variety of shapes and sizes.
It's even possible to have a picture engraved on a marker.
We suggest you take a look at the markers and monuments manufactured by Quiring Monuments Incorporated.
Their sales and manufacturing facility is at 9608 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, Washington (206) 522-8400.
Have you ever wondered how multiple markings on the same monument are done?
Suppose a husband dies before his wife; what about marking the grave when the wife passes away?
It's done on-site, in the cemetery, with portable laser equipment.
Installing a Grave Marker
Proper installation of a grave marker or monument is necessary to prevent damage to the marker and to our cemetery lawn mower. For this reason, the cemetery requires that a marker or monument be installed by a monument maker.
Contact the cemetery representative to make arrangements for the monument company to install the grave marker.
Planting Trees and Shrubs
No trees or shrubs may be planted on or near a grave.
